David, may the seas be peaceful and the breezes warm. The Phoenicians would have put to sea with oblations and prayers to Athirati Yammi--"Lady Asherah of the Sea"--the patroness/deity of men who went down to the sea on ships. Always in the stern of the vessel there was a small shrine honoring Asherah, who was probably Saturn in the Roman system. Be well! Enjoy the lush wonderful foods of the Mediterranean. Do enjoy boulliabaise--a speciality "Marseillaise"--for me. Bon voyage! BJ
